Seriously guys, you can’t understand how gorgeous it is here! When we flew in, any lingering doubts about staying at Vassar or doing a more “classic” study abroad experience to some culturally rich European city disappeared over that crystal blue water. Sorry guys, but it’s really that amazing. The land is…scrubby, with not a ton growing. However, that water…. We weren’t allowed to swim until we passed the swim test (you sign up for a dive program without being able to swim?) and that happened this (our 2nd) afternoon. Seeing that water and not being able to go in was absolute torture.
I was able to take a saltwater shower last night, which was fantastic. Under the stars, right on the coast with a light breeze blowing through, covered in mosquitoes….
That’s the only rough part about living here. They say it’s the worst it’s ever been here, and I’m really really glad. Last night I got…I don’t even want to count them because then I’ll have an absolute notion of where they are and they’ll get itchier. I have a mosquito net, but, you know, mosquito nets work both ways. They keep some out, but when there are some already in the net, they keep them in as well. During the night, I kept telling myself that the bites I was feeling were psychosomatic, but they weren’t. True story!
Aww! Well, I hope you'll post some pictures soon. Maybe I'll print them out while I still have VPrint, make the already dreary P-town weather disappear. Also, wore your earrings for the first time at Vass and got TONS of complements... also many people pulling on my ears....
ReplyDeleteMiss you already!
